Save Lamu sent numerous letters of appear to government officials including the Kenya Ports Authority, NEMA, and the Ministry of Transport to lobby against the initiation of the port project prior to consultations and an environmental impact assessment.
Over 100 letters were sent to the government officials, non-governmental organizations, and individuals nationally and internationally. Save Lamu is inviting supporters of the cause to also lobby their respective leaders on the Lamu community’s behalf. We are requesting our international and local friends to send their own letter or use the attached letter to appeal their members of parliament, heads of state, state representatives, multinational organizations and envoys. You can feel free to enter your details as needed and foward to the respective individuals/groups.
Ongoing, we also have our online petition(http://www.change.org/petitions/petition-to-suspend-plans-for-the-proposed-lamu-port) and the offline petition as attached which you can print and get more signatures. Please feel free to share and spread the word and garner more support.
