Save Lamu holds Protest at NEMA and KPA Offices

By September 14, 2011 No Comments

Today Save Lamu members paraded around Lamu town chanting to demonstrate against the port after learning recently from the media that the government is still pushing full steam ahead prior to making any efforts for consulting the local communities.

The team started protesting from the National Environmental Management Authority up to the Kenya Ports Authority and Town square. The group also submitted with them the letters of appeal sent out to various agencies in hard copy, as well as copies of the Save Lamu petition.  The groups chanted under the sun and lifted a view eyebrows with their unique statement of “Twataka Port, lakini, tuhusishwe” (We want a port, but, with consultation).
