Save Lamu commissioned handwashing stations across 7 towns within Lamu as a rapid response to the novel COVID-19 pandemic. We worked with the county government to share information about the virus with the community and educate them on how to practice social distancing, staying at home and how to wash our hands. 

This information will help flatten the curve within Kenya and protect Lamu residents from contracting or transmitting this virus. We call upon all Kenyans to work together to stop the spread.

Save Lamu is running a food distribution exercise in response to families affected by Covid-19. We have been able to reach over 100 households in distributing food items to vulnerable women and children highly affected by this pandemic.

As in other parts of the world, the community is not able to find income-generating opportunities due to restrictions in goods and services movement. Lamu residents, however, have proved to be resilient and are working with each other to help the government reduce and ultimately have the country declared Corona Virus free.
